What are you willing to do to get the life you want? It’s an interesting question.
I’m reading a magic book just now called Gold Rush by the quadruple Olympic Gold Medallist Michael Johnson. It’s a fascinating insight into the mind of champions and the chapter I read yesterday covers this very point and brought back a lot of thoughts about my own journey over the past few years and many journeys I have watched falter or go in new directions.
Wanting success, whatever success is to you, is easy. It’s easy to sit and want the big house, the car, the financial freedom, the love, the comfort, the whole frigging lot of it. To want it is easy. This is where I sometimes have issues with the fervent law of attraction brigade. Just wanting it is not enough! You can’t sit on your arse and dream of a Ferrari or a size 10 wardrobe and not get up off your hole and do something about it! Eating a box of Milk Tray while creating your vision board of clothes from Vivienne Westwood is a strategy built to fail!!
Anyway, the point is, when you really want something you have to ask yourself the question; what are you willing to do to get it? As Johnson says in his book, if you want to be an Olympic champion are you willing to put in the early morning training sessions every single day, to miss family occasions, to work until you’re sick? Are you willing?
In my book (not my book, just my book), if you want to get the nice house, the happy family, the car, the money, the whatever are you willing to do what it takes to get it? Success is simple but it isn’t always easy. It takes sacrifices, it takes courage, it takes digging deep into your resources of energy, it takes being able to face fear, it sometimes means you will face deep uncertainty.
But behind it all, you have a focus on where you are going and what you are doing it for. This is where it is all worthwhile.
Over the last 5 years I have faced all of these things, I have put myself out there when I’m not sure what is going to happen, I have sacrificed a lot in the short term because all I could think about was that, long term, it was all going to be so, so worth it! And it has been, I feel I am so damn close to what I define as personal success (and it is not financial i promise you), I can smell it!!
What is your success? And what are you willing to do to get it? I promise you that dreaming of it is not enough. You have everything in you to be a champion and champions will work hard, dig deep and step up when their moment comes. No question.
So, are you ready champ? Really ready? Well, go f**king nail it then, your moment has arrived.
Hmmm, that’s cool!
